Athena, goddess of not only war, but of wisdom, courage, inspiration, law, justice and other necessary balances in the equilibrium of civilisation!
She sprang from Zeus' head in full armour and was his favourite child.
Athena's symbols are the owl (wisdom), snake, olive tree , armour and spears.
This decorative plate features a hand painted design of Athena’s olive branch, symbol of Greece's city of Athens, which Athena was the patron and protector of. Also an absolute favourite plant of mine.
Snakes were Athena's sacred animal, said to have spoken out words of wisdom and prophesies when they hissed.
